For I am the perfect Father.
Matthew 5:48
Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. (WEB)
God’s children are created to be loved perfectly. That may be a difficult concept to grasp in today’s world, but it is nonetheless true that woven into the fabric of a child’s inner being is an expectation to be loved unconditionally.
As children grow up they begin to see their parents’ humanity, which sometimes leads to a sense of disillusionment. Yet God is not like our earthly parents. The Bible says that He is the Perfect Father. He will not let you down. He will not dissatisfy you. He is perfect in every way. God is the Father that you have always needed.
PRAYER
Perfect Father, today I choose to forgive my earthly parents for not meeting all my love needs. I love them despite their human faults and blemishes. Thank You that You love me perfectly in spite of my own failings. And help me to love more perfectly, like You, in all of my relationships. Amen.
