Meditation 21
I offer you more than your earthly father ever could.
Matthew 7:7-11
7 “Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. 8 For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or who is there among you who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! God, who is the perfect parent, has placed within earthly fathers and mothers the natural desire to care for and to give good gifts to their children. Yet even the best meaning of parents, because they are beset with human flaws and imperfections, may at times disappoint their children.
As loving as moms and dads can be, their hearts are marred by sin and tainted by selfish motives. Contrast this to the love of Father God: His is a limitless, holy, unconditional love! Your heavenly Father smiles every time He looks upon your face. It is almost humanly impossible to comprehend the incredible love that Father God has for you.
PRAYER
Father, I confess that I have related to You in the same way that I have related to my earthly father. Help me to see the truth that You love me much more than my earthly father ever could. I come to You today with my needs because I know that You love me unconditionally and want to give me good gifts! Amen.
