I gave up everything I loved that I might gain your love.
Romans 8:32
He who didn’t spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things? (WEB)
The apple of the Father’s eye was His one and only Son, Jesus. Nothing could ever separate them from the love they had for each other. Yet there came a time when they were physically separated, when Jesus left the safety of heaven and His Father’s right side to take on the form of a helpless little baby. But throughout that time, they still remained one in heart and in Spirit. Then the unthinkable happened: The Son of God, who knew no sin, voluntarily took upon Himself the cumulative sin of the entire world.
In the darkest moment in all of history, Jesus bore the weight of humanity’s ugliness upon a crude cross. Father God gave up all that He loved in order to gain our love. If He did not spare His dearest Treasure in order to win our freedom, how much more is He willing to graciously give us all things?
PRAYER
Merciful Father, thank You for not sparing Your only Son so that I could receive an eternal inheritance. You gave up everything that You loved in order to gain my love. You have proven Your unfailing love to me. Forgive me for ever doubting that You love me. I willingly give my whole heart to You. Amen.
